Diet is such a confusing thing…

It’s amazing how something as simple as eating can get so darn complicated. One study shows that you should eat one thing, another says you shouldn’t. You should eat all nonfat foods. No, you need to eat lots of healthy fats. But you also need plenty of protein. Carbs are good. Carbs are bad. AGGGGHHH!!!!
I always knew of the craziness and confusion associated with nutrition, but I got to experience it first hand the past couple of days. I’ve been researching all about diets and trying to find the optimal one for my goal (to build some muscle mass).

But, I’ve been unsuccessful so far. There is so much that goes into forming an ideal diet for muscle building. There’s the amount of calories I should eat, how much protein I need, what my macro ratio should be, and so much more. And with each site I visit, it seems like they are saying something different!

Eating healthy isn’t the issue for me. After all, I eat clean 99% of the time. What I want to know is how much protein, carbs, and fats I should be eating, and what the ratio should be.

I also want to know how many extra calories I should be eating to gain muscle. Obviously, in order to gain weight, I would have to eat more (yet, one study even said I don’t have to increase my calories. So, I got even more confused). But, how much more? I don’t want to go completely overboard and end up building fat instead of muscle.

Currently, I’m seeking the help of some professionals when it comes to nutrition. Google just isn’t going to cut it anymore! Hopefully I can get a good meal plan going so I can FINALLY get some meat on these bones! I want to look stronger and fitter, and hopefully with my workouts and diet I will!

In the meantime, eating has been going as usual in the TeelFit world! I’ll be sure to keep you posted on any changes I’m making. After all, I know how exciting reading about my diet is….sarcasm….. 😉

  1. Totally feel ya on the confusion! There are so many ways to eat clean that it’s hard to choose which way to go! I’d just listen to what your craving and what you need to feel satisfied. And those protein pancakes look so tasty!

  2. I actually just learnt about the In versus out calorie confusion in my lectures through school. Apparently they say that it may not be an excess of calories that causes weight gain but really excess carbs that turn into sugar. I’ve noticed myself that in order to gain weight I had to eat a lot more carbs and I don’t just mean a slice of bread , I mean like 6 …
