Happy Earth Day everyone! Since today is all about the earth and how awesome it is, I think it’s necessary to do a nature appreciation post!
Luckily, though, I get a glimpse of it by living next to a state park. It has ponds, trees, grass, and equestrian trails (basically the opposite of the rest of Vegas). It may be man-made nature, but it’s an awesome escape from the city! 99% of my running routes travel through this park.
I’ve also been trying to get in the habit of going for daily walks around the park aside from my regular exercise. I do this 1) for active recovery and 2) because I love to get outdoors! In fact, I usually type my blog posts from my phone as I walk. It’s so much better than being cramped up inside at the computer!
Another way that I enjoy nature is through hikes on Mt. Charleston. The scenery on this mountain is gorgeous. I try to plan hiking trips as much as I can!
These outdoor adventures are a way for me to get away from the stresses of every day life. Nature is so calm and peaceful, that it’s impossible not to enjoy yourself. I will forever be a strong advocate of turning off the tv and going outside! Not only will you be more active, but you might even like it a little bit 🙂
If you haven’t taken the earth day animal test on Google, you should. I’m a pangolin 🙂
Today I received a lamp at my school’s Academic Letter Ceremony. It’s pretty fancy! I’ll have to add it to my letterman (which is currently stored in the closet until winter. There’s probably a total of 2 days during the year that are cold enough to wear it.)
- What’s your favorite running or walking scenery?
- How often do you get outdoors?
- Do you have a letterman from high school? What kinds of letters and patches do you have on it?
