Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny visited the Teel Household last night! He knows me too well.

You’re never too old for an Easter basket! Thanks Mom and Dad for keeping the tradition alive!

After peeking in my basket, it was time for my Easter sweat sessions! Holiday morning workouts are always great. First, a friend and I went for a speedy 6 mile run with the sunrise.

Then I joined my gym family at the park for some Easter Bootcamp! One of the group fitness instructors at my gym always does holiday boot camps. They are tons of fun and a great way to burn some calories before stuffing our faces later 🙂

There were four stations at this morning’s workout. Each station had four workouts that we would repeat for 15 minutes. Unfortunately I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer and got the time confused, so I showed up late (woops.) But, I still got a quality sweat sesh in 🙂

Station 1: (Will was driving to the park. Again, woops)

Station 2:

  • Uphill plank walks
  • Uphill caterpillars
  • Uphill duck walks
  • Uphill squat jumps w/ push ups

Station 3:

  • 20 Decline push ups
  • 20 Donkey kicks each side
  • 20 Squat jumps onto bench
  • 20 burpees

Station 4:

  • Uphill frog hops
  • Uphill gator crawls
  • Uphill backwards bear crawls (these hurt)
  • Three backwards sprints uphill with downhill bear crawls in between

We finished with suicides and hover jacks. A fun group picture was necessary to document our hard work 🙂 Here’s our attempt at a pyramid pic…

It was more of a lopsided pyramid, but the effort was phenomenal.

Once I got home, it was time to prepare my quinoa salad side dish! It was pretty simple. After all, a teenager could do it. After cooking the quinoa, all you do is mix in the veggies, garbonza beans, and the homemade dressing (olive oil, lemon juice, and basil). Then WALLAH, you’ve got a delicious and healthy side dish for any occasion. The recipe and directions can be found here.

Then the family began to arrive! Everyone meet Aunt Jean, my partner in crime when it comes to health food. She too loves Trader Joes, Whole Food’s, and Chipotle. We get along very well.

I love holidays because the whole family gets together and we all have a great time. I am extremely grateful to have such supportive and wonderful people in my life 🙂

Finally, it was time to eat! I made sure to fill my plate with all the good stuff! (Don’t let this fool you. There were seconds and thirds.)  It’s Sunday, so here are this week’s workouts!

  • Monday: 4 mi run, Bodypump, CxWorx
  • Tuesday: 8 mi run, Bodypump
  • Wednesday: 30 min HIIT Class, CxWorx
  • Thursday: Off (recovery walk)
  • Friday: 10 mi run, Bodypump, CxWorx
  • Saturday: 3 mi Hike
  • Sunday: 6 mi run, Bootcamp

Total Mileage: 28 miles

How about you?

  • Did the Easter bunny visit you? What was in your basket?
  • What was your Easter workout?
  • Favorite holiday food from today?

  1. That’s so awesome that your parents don’t do the “traditional” basket for you, but instead more of things you really like.!
Looks like you had a great weekend. and the food looks so delish.!
My easter workout was a 12 mile run, and nope, no easter bunny visited me :/ lol

    1. I’m jealous of your 12 miler! I have one planned this weekend!

And my years of getting visited by the Easter bunny and Mr. Clause are running low. I better enjoy it while it lasts 😉
