This morning’s run got me thinking. Lately I’ve become too preoccupied with trying to get faster and better. My runs have become less enjoyable as I have started to lose sight of why I really run: because it’s freaking awesome!
Sometimes, we just need to step back and reevaluate the true reasons we pursue our hobbies. I often fall into the “I have to get better or I am a failure” mindset that I had while doing track and cross country. When this happens, I remind myself that I run because I love it. I don’t do it for the times or records. Although the awards are nice, at the end of the day it’s all about whether or not I enjoyed myself.
Enough of the deep heartfelt stuff! Rock n Roll is doing a promotion; if you e-mail them a picture of your watch at the 5k (3.1 mile) mark of your run, they will send you a free shirt! I had to take advantage of this, who doesn’t love a free shirt? The promotion is only until April 2nd, so act fast!!
My madre and I got our swole on this morning and did BodyPump. After the gym, we went to Whole Foods (aka heaven). I may or may not have created a $14 salad at the salad bar for lunch. Luckily my Mom loves me.
I also tried a new Kombucha brand. I usually stick with Synergy, but tried something new today! Kombucha never disappoints.
You’ll be happy to know I’ve officially stepped up and set up a Pinterest account. I can’t believe I have gone so long without having this in my life. There are healthy food recipes everywhere! Right up my ally! I found this oven baked fajita recipe, we had to try it for dinner.
As always, a yam with almond butter makes a wonderful side item for any meal.
If you don’t mind obsessive food and exercise pins, then follow me on Pinterest (teelfit). I’m warning you though: my addiction to health foods will quickly become obvious 🙂
